IUVO is a partner in EXOAIM, a new Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action coordinated by the Technical University of Denmark, running from June 2026 to May 2029.
Â
The project will develop, test and validate a new generation of inclusive assistive technologies for children and adolescents with physical, motor, neuromuscular or neurological impairments. The solutions will combine soft EMG sensors and biosensors embedded in textiles, adaptive AI-based control and modular exoskeletons for lower-limb and head and neck support.
Â
Within EXOAIM, IUVO will contribute its expertise in wearable robotics and gait assistance by redesigning and evolving its lower-limb exoskeleton platform for users up to the age of 16.
Â
The activity will focus on the specific requirements of younger users, such as ergonomics, fit, usability and safety, in order to prepare the technology for future validation in rehabilitation, school and community settings. EXOAIM marks IUVO’s role as an engineering partner capable of translating advanced research into wearable technologies designed around people and real-life contexts.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 101290940.
